My impression is that McCulloch had pretty much nothing to do with the Peoples National Bank and was a figurehead only. If you read the bootlegger article, which was the only newspaper article I was able to dig up that went beyond just stating that he was reelected president, it sounds like both he and the VP were clueless as to what was going on at the bank. It's no wonder that the bank failed due to cashier shenanigans!
