David Murry Hetrick (June 13, 1875 – Feb. 1, 1941)

Biography

David Murray Hetrick was born in Mexico, Juniata County, PA, June 13, 1875. He was a graduate of the old Tuscarora Academy and of Juniata College, class of 1895.  He was a teacher for 10 years and a principal in Juniata schools, then supervising principal of Windber, Somerset County and Juniata Township, Blair County schools.  He was the treasurer for both Mifflin and Milford township school boards for many years.  In April 1909, he became Cashier of the People's Bank of Patterson (later named Mifflin). This bank would receive a federal charter in 1910 as The Peoples National Bank of Patterson. Hetrick, a Democrat, served three terms in the State Legislature.  In 1926, 1934 and 1936 he was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives; his 1928 campaign was unsuccessful.  He was not a candidate for reelection to the House in 1938.  He was an active masonic member, including membership in the Zembo Shrine, Harrisburg. At the time of his death in 1941, he was chairman of the Juniata County Draft Board. He is interred at Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania.
