Core Serena Ireland (Terre Haute, OH)
Core Serena Ireland (September 24, 1874 – August 19, 1943) served as cashier and later president at the Champaign National Bank in Urbana, OH. He was also active in politics as a member of the Republican party serving in multiple county and state offices.

Early life and family
Banking career
In 1910, Ireland became assistant cashier of the Champaign National bank.
Ireland advanced to cashier in 1929 and later to president in 1940. He remained president until his death in 1943.[1]

Ireland served two terms as Champaign county sheriff beginning in 1907.[2]
In 1909-1910, while Ireland was serving as sergeant-at-arms of the Ohio Senate and chairman of the Republican executive committee for Champaign county, U.S. Representative Ralph Cole Wikipedia proposed Ireland for supervisor of the census for 8th congressional district.[3]To comply with a request from President Taft Wikipedia that census supervisors cease active politics Ireland resigned his Senate and committee duties.[4] Two weeks later he rescinded his resignations[5]only to resign again another 6 weeks later.[6]
Ireland was a Republican party convention delegate in 1916[7], 1932[8], and 1936[9].
In 1917, Ireland served as councilman and president pro tem. of the 3rd Ward for the city of Urbana.[10]
Later life and death
Ireland died at home of bladder cancer and uremia on August 19, 1943. He had apparently suffered from this condition for some years.[11]
