Hooversville is a borough in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, United States. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania, Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 645 at the 2010 census. In 1920 the population was 1,345, peaking at 1,364 in 1940.

Hooversville was established in 1836. The first settlers to claim land in the Hooversville area were George Lohr (1780), Michael Kocher, and Casper Ripple (warrant 1794). Jonas Hoover, the founder of Hooversville, came to Quemahoning Township in 1834 and bought land from the heirs of Casper Ripple. In 1836, he had lots surveyed along the present Water and Main Streets. Jonas Hoover was a farmer who ran a gristmill and sawmill on Hoover Street in 1847. He was a justice of the peace from 1852 to 1862. He and David Crissey took part in establishing the German Reformed Church at Hooversville.

Hooversville had three National Banks chartered during the Bank Note Era, and all three of those banks issued National Bank Notes.

On March 14, 1919, application was made to the Comptroller of the Currency, Williams, for the Citizens National Bank of Hooversville, Pennsylvania, with $25,000 in capital.

Directors for 1930 were L.R. Berkey, Telford Lewis, H.H. Dull, S.A. Rininger, J.M. James, John B. Hughes, H.G. Hamer, and Norman Lewis. Officers were Dr. J.M. James, president; L.R. Berkey and Norman Lewis, vice president; H.H. Dull, cashier; Edward L. Berkey, Assistant Cashier.

In April 1932, Herbert H. Dull, former cashier of the Citizens National Bank of Hooversville pleaded guilty in the Federal Court in Pittsburgh to the misapplication of approximately $16,000 in funds. A sentence of one year and one day was imposed by Judge R.M. Gibson to be served in a Federal penitentiary. The arrest of Dull followed an examination of the bank by State bank examiners several months earlier. He supposedly embezzled the money to operate a coal mine in which he was interested.

In January 1933, the stockholders elected the following directors: Norman Lewis, Telford Lewis, L.R. Berkey, J.M. James, H.T. Hamer, S.A. Rininger, and John B. Hughes. The officers were J.M. James, president; Norman Lewis, vice president L.R. Berkey, vice president; E.C. Ober, cashier; and Edward Berkey, assistant cashier.
