Robert Charles Brogmus was born 24 April 1891, near Osage, Mitchell County, IA (they lived on the family farm and some sources place him in another small town in the area, Grafton, Worth County, IA) to Asmus and Eliese (Moeller) Brogmus. He started his banking career as a clerk for the First National Bank of St. Ansgar, Mitchell County, IA before moving to northwest Iowa for a position at the Alta State Bank, Buena Vista County. By 1927, he was the Auditor for Farmers Loan & Trust Company in Sioux City, IA, one of many banks created by James F. Toy. In 1928, he and his family moved to Fonda, Pocahontas County, IA where he accepted the position of Cashier at the First National Bank of Fonda, also under James F. Toy. From there, he moved to Red Oak, IA and served as a VP with the Red Oak National Bank 1932-1933 and continued as VP with Montgomery County National Bank starting in 1933 when that bank succeeded Red Oak National. He then moved to DeKalb, DeKalb County, IL where he was Cashier at the DeKalb Trust and Savings Bank from 1937 to 1940. Finally, he moved in 1940 to Downers Grove, DuPage County, IL, where he rose to Executive Vice President of Citizen's National Bank, a position he held at the time of his death in Downers Grove on January 14, 1963.

  • Marian Viola (Brogmus) Pfaff (b: 8/18/1922, Alta, Buena Vista County, IA, d: 3/17/1996, Dubuque, Dubuque County, IA)
