Maytown is an unincorporated community in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The population was 3,824 at the 2010 census.

Maytown is noted as the birthplace of 19th-century politician Simon Cameron, who served in the Cabinet of President Abraham Lincoln. The Grove Mansion, built between 1882 and 1887, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. William H. Strayer, born in Maytown in 1847, earned the Congressional Medal of Honor on May 22, 1872, along with William F. "Buffalo Bill" Cody and two others.

Maytown had one National Bank chartered during the Bank Note Era, and it issued National Bank Notes.

The Maytown National Bank of Maytown opened its doors for business on July 1, 1909 in quarters located in the Ernst building, on door off Centre Square. George S. Rhoads, Sr. was the president and Charles D. Zell, former grammar schoold teacher in Akron, was cashier. The bank had fully paid in capital of $25,000.

In January 1910, stockholders elected the following directors: George S. Rhoads, Henry H. Engle, John A. Dehoff, David A. Hollenbaugh, Edward Fitzkee, John H. Shank, Hiram H. Engle, Phares E. Wolgemuth, and Abram Martin.

In October 1910, the new Maytown National bank building was well under way and about ready for the roofers. F.H. Baker of Mount Joy had the contract to furnish the slate for the bank.

In January 1911, stockholders made one change to the board electing Eph. N. Hershey to replace Abram Martin. The officers were H.H. Engle, president; John H. Shank, vice president; and Charles D. Zell, cashier. The bank moved into its new building. On January 25, Mr. Albert Risser, Maytown's well-known tobacco dealer, was elected a director to fill the place of George S. Rhoads, Sr., resigned.

On January 11, 1916, stockholders elected the following directors: Henry H. Engle, David A. Hollenbaugh, Harry J. Hawthorn, John H. Shank, George A. Harter, Edward Fitzkee, John A. Dehoff, Albert Risser, Hiram H. Engle, Peter S. Kraybill and Charles D. Zell. On January 25, 1916, Charles D. Zell resigned as cashier to serve as treasurer of the newly-organized Agricultural Trust Company of Lancaster. H was succeeded by John H. Hoffman.

In 1927, officers were H.H. Engle, President; Al. Risser, vice president; and J.H. Hoffman, cashier. Directors were H.H. Engle, Al. Risser, J.H. Hoffman, J.A. Dehoff, Edw. L. Fitzkee, G.A. Harter, H.J. Hawthorne, C.E. Hollenbaugh, P.S. Kraybill, and John H. Shank.

In 1938 the officers were J.A. Dehoff, president; C.E. Hollenbaugh, vice president; J.H. Hoffman, cashier; G.A. Harter, secretary. Directors were John A. Dehoff, Abram H. Engle, Dr. G.A. Harter, Charles E. Hollenbaugh, and William W. Mundorff.

In November 1955, Martin S. Musser, president of the Union National Mount Joy Bank and Mervin S. Arnold, president of the Maytown National Bank in a joint announcement told of the purchase of the Maytown bank by the Union National. Assets of the Union National were $6.3 million and of the Maytown National $1.2 million. The Union National Bank was the third oldest bank in Lancaster County and in 1953 at the bank's 100th anniversary celebration, currency issued by the bank and signatures of past presidents were displayed.

On February 2, 1956, authorization was received from the Comptroller of the Currency and the former Maytown National Bank opened as the Maytown office of the Union National Mount Joy Bank. The combined assets of the Mount Joy bank and its branch office were $7,500,000 and trust funds exceeded $2.1 million.
