Little Rock is located in Lyon County in northwest Iowa. In 1884 the B.C.R. & N Railroad was surveyed throughout here and the town of Little Rock was plotted. It consisted of nine square blocks. The first scheduled train came through on Dec 3, 1884.

During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Little Rock was 399 in 1900, rising slightly to 585 in 1930. Its highest population was 633 in 1940, and the current population is estimated at 438 (2018).

Little Rock had one National Bank chartered during the Bank Note Era, and it issued National Bank Notes.
