Town History
Farragut is located in Fremont County in southwest Iowa.
Farragut had its start in the year 1870 by the building of the Burlington & Missouri River Railroad through that territory. It is named for Admiral David Farragut.
During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Farragut was 514 in 1900, staying fairly constant with 523 in 1930. It's highest population was 603 in 1980, and the current population is estimated at 441 (2016).
