Westfield is a borough in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. The population was 1,113 at the time of the 2020 census.  In 1910 the population was 1,207, peaking in 1940 at 1,386.  Westfield Pennsylvania is known for the Eberle Tannery, closed in 2004.  It was one of the biggest sole leather shoe producers in the world in 1976. The tannery was located on Church Street; demolition of tannery buildings was completed in 2021.

Westfield had one National Bank chartered during the Bank Note Era, and it issued National Bank Notes.

The National Bank Association of Westfield was organized on August 2nd, 1909, with the following board of directors: E.M. Tucker, F.J. Seely, Burt A. Gee, J.C. Beach, R.T. Pride, C.E. Krusen, and W.W. Marsh. The Board unanimously elected the following officers: President, E.M. Tucker; Vice President, J.F. Seely; Cashier, F.P. Taylor. Farmers and Traders National Bank would supercede the Farmers' & Traders' Bank, a private institution which for years operated in Westfield and which always had the confidence and support of the people of that vicinity. The capital was $50,000, surplus $10,000, all paid-in.

On Saturday, March 11, 1916, the directors present were Perry H. Tucker, Burt A. Gee, and Roy T. Pride with J.C. Beach of Sabinsville, and E.H. Westbrook of Laurel, Montana not present. The board had been composted of five members, but it was decided to raise the number to seven as the by-laws provided that the board shall have from five to seven members. The following new directors were elected: Chas. B. Simmons and J.B. Adams.

On Tuesday, January 18, 1927, stockholders elected the same board of directors: J.F. Eberle, R.T. Pride, Hugh B. Strang, W.W. Marsh, and Charles B. Simmons. The officers were re-elected: J.F. Eberle, president; R.T. Pride, vice president; F.P. Taylor, cashier; E.S. Parsons, assistant cashier. Clerks in the bank were Mrs. Margaret Duly, Mrs. Donald Chamberlain, and Walter Greeley.

Charles Boardman Simmons, a prominent citizen of Westfield died Sunday morning, August 7, 1927 at 8 o'clock. He was director of the Farmers and traders National Bank and well known as a dealer in horses and owner of farms.

On February 28, 1929, Leslie G. Stevens of Harrison Valley passed away at the Steuben Sanitarium at Hornell. He was in the mercantile business at Harrison Valley from 1884 until 1911. He was vice president and director of the Farmers and Traders National Bank of Westfield for several years. He was president of the Business Men's Club and a member of Harrison Valley Lodge, F. & A.M., Ulysses Chapter, R.A.M. and Coudersport Consistory.

In August 1944, at a meeting of the Board of Directors, Frank M. Maryott, cashier, was elected vice president.

On April 19, 1961, Frank M. Maryott, president of the Farmers and Traders National Bank was honored at a surprise part in observance of his 25 years with the institution. Joseph F. Eberle, a director, with words of congratulations presented Mr. Maryott with a wrist-watch, a gift from the bank directors. Mr. Maryott came to Westfiled April 15, 1936 from Philadelphia where he was an examiner with the State banking Department. He was elected cashier the next day. On August 7, 1944, he was name vice president and cashier, becoming the bank's president on January 11, 1949.

In January 1965, the notice of application to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation appeared for the merger of the Tioga County Savings & Trust Company, located on 61 Main Street, Wellsboro, with The First National Bank of Galeton, 39 West Main Street, Galeton; The First National Bank of Lawrenceville, Main Street, Lawrenceville; and Farmers & Traders National Bank of Westfield, 100 East Main Street, Westfield.

The merger of the four banks received Federal and State banking authorities' approval and was effective on March 24, 1965. The resulting institution was named Commonwealth Bank and Trust Company with assets of over $17 million. It would continue to operate as branches the banks in Wellsboro, Galeton, Lawrenceville and Westfield. The officers were J.H. Decker, president; F.M. Maryott, board chairman and senior vice president; Donald C. Chamberlain, board vice chairman and senior vice president; R.R. Eaton, treasurer and senior vice president; George Hewitt, secretary and senior vice president; R.G. Fenstermacher, executive vice president; W.E. Shumway, trust officer and senior vice president; M.C. Brucklacher, senior vice president; and A.A. Cool, vice president.

In January 1966, the board of directors of Commonwealth Bank and Trust Co. were Thomas R. Bailey, James D. Baker, D.C. Chamberlain, Robert F. Cox, Marion J. Croft, M. Beach Davis, Frank L. Dunham, Robert R. Eaton, Joseph Eberle, R. Glen Fenstermacher, Gordon B. Ford, George D. Hewitt, Frank M. Maryott, Leon G. Niles, Carl W. Smith, Robert Taynton, Sr., and Thomas E. Wilcox. Elmer G. Carson and Adrian E. Marsh were elected as honorary directors. The Board appointed the following advisory board for the Lawrenceville branch: Adrian E. Marsh, chairman, Frank Carlson, Robert R. Eaton, James D. Baker, and Marion J. Croft.
