Emerson Jenkins Boyd (February 24, 1879 – January 10, 1945) was president of the Second National Bank of Warren, OH as well as president of the ninth district of the Ohio Bankers Association.


Biography

Early life and family

On October 16, 1900 Boyd married Grace T. McCurdy. [1]

Banking career

In 1914, Boyd became cashier of the Second National Bank of Warren, OH.

In 1918, Boyd was listed in the National Association of Credit Men. [2]

In September 1928, Boyd was listed as president of the Second National Bank and for the first time was listed as a member of the Ohio Bankers Association. [3]

On September 11, 1931, Boyd gave the principal technical address at the meeting of the Ohio Bankers Association where he was quoted as saying "No enterprise or industry can be operated profitably for any length of time unless the officers know the actual cost of each department". [4]

In November 1933, Boyd was selected to be one of ten bankers tasked with drafting new banking requirements for state chartered banks. The group was to provide recommendations such as standard proposals on interest rates, service charges, banking hours, and wages. [5] [6]

In May 1943, Boyd was listed as vice-president of the Ohio Bankers Association. [7]

In May 1943, Boyd was elected president of the Ohio Bankers Association. [8]

As president of the Ohio Bankers Association, Boyd attended meetings in October 1943,[9] January 1944,[10] and February, 1944.[11]

In May 1944, Boyd stepped down from the presidency of the Ohio Bankers Association and became a member of its executive council. [12]

Other career highlights

In 1919, Boyd was listed in The Hotel World: The Hotel and Travelers Journal, Volume 88 as an incorporator of the Johnathan Warner Hotel Company in Warren, OH. [13]

Later life and death

Boyd died at his home of a cerebral hemorrhage on January 10, 1945. Although widely publicized limited details were given. [14] [15] [16]
