Lyman Edgar Norris (January 6, 1892 – September 12, 1978) was associated with the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks National Bank where he served as assistant cashier, cashier, and finally vice-president until he was dismissed by the bank's board of directors due to improper activities that led to the bank's closure and Norris' brief imprisonment.

Biography

Early life and family

On December 5, 1916 Norris married Elizabeth Augusta Johnen. [1]

Banking career

In 1922, Norris was listed as manager of the security branch of United Savings Bank and Trust. [2]

He joined the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks National Bank as assistant cashier when the bank was founded. [3]

Norris was promoted to cashier in 1925 by the bank's board of directors. [4]

In June 1930, Norris was dismissed by the board of directors for his part in irregularities involving check kiting and fraudulent stock sales. [5]

In May 1931, Lyman was sentenced to two and a half years at the federal reformatory in Chillicothe, OH. [6]

In June 1931, Norris and his wife lost their home as part of the restitution Norris had to repay to the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks National Bank. [7]

In March 1933, Norris was appointed to represent The Fitch Publishing Co. Inc., Financial Statisticians and Investment Counsel. [8]

In December, 1941 Norris was appointed to represent Moody's Investors Service. [9]

Later life and death

In August 1935, Norris discovered a dead farmer while visiting the farmer to buy tomatoes. [10]

On August 3, 1965, a teen driver crashed his car into Norris' yard. [11]

On July 2, 1966 Mrs. Norris died at home. [12]
