Harry Loftin Williamson was born April 26, 1883 in Davidson County, Tennessee, to James William Williamson and Mary Hull (Ball) Williamson. Harry grew up in the Nashville area and graduated from the Hume High School in 1902. On the 1900 census, he is listed as a salesman in a dry goods store. Harry began his banking career as a runner for the American National Bank of Nashville, charter 3032, in 1902, at a salary of $20 a week. In 1906, he left American National and went to work as a discount teller for the Fourth National Bank of Nashville, charter 1669. He stayed with Fourth National after it consolidated with the First National Bank of Nashville, charter 150, in 1912. On June 11, 1907, he married Hallie Hopkins in her home town of Dickson, Tennessee.

Harry progressed through the different teller assignments and learned the various ledgers and accounting methods, and he was promoted to Assistant Cashier of Fourth & First National Bank of Nashville, charter 1669, on January 17, 1917. Two years later, on January 17, 1919, he was elected as Cashier. On January 14, 1927, Harry was elected Vice-President. On January 14, 1928, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the American National Bank of Lebanon, Tennessee, charter 5754, but that bank closed on January 7, 1929.

Late in 1930, Fourth & First National Bank came under pressure and was consolidated into the American National Bank. Harry was elected Vice-President of American National upon the merger. In January, 1935, he left American National and was elected Executive Vice-President of the Commerce Union Bank of Nashville, a state chartered bank. He would stay at Commerce Union until he retired. Also, on January 22, 1935, he was elected Vice-President of the Broadway National Bank of Nashville, charter 9774. On January 16, 1940, he was elected President of the Nashville Clearing House Association, and from 1947-1949 he served as President of the Belle Meade Country Club, in west Davidson County.

On June 13, 1951, Harry was elected First Vice-President of Commerce Union as well as taking a seat on the Board of Directors. Harry retired at the age of 80, on January 15, 1964. He became an Advising Director of Commerce Union until he died at home on June 9, 1979. He was buried in the Union Cemetery, in Dickson, Tennessee.
