Radcliffe is located in Hardin County in central Iowa.

Radcliffe was laid out in 1880 when the railroad was extended to that point. It was named after the novel The Heir of Redclyffe by Charlotte Mary Yonge.

During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Radcliffe was 645 in 1900, staying fairly constant with 627 in 1930. It's highest population was 708 in 1920, and the current population is estimated at 536 (2016).
