First National Bank, Lyons, IA (Chartered 1882 - Liquidated 1911)

Lyons is located in Clinton County in east central Iowa. Among the first settlers of European origin in the Clinton area was Elijah Buell, who built a log cabin on July 25, 1835, and in 1837, established the town of Lyons, named after the French city of the same name.

Clinton was incorporated on January 26, 1857.

In 1895, Lyons officially merged with the City of Clinton.

During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Lyons/Clinton was 6,129 in 1870, rising to 25,577 in 1910, and bumping slightly to 25,726 in 1930. It's highest population was 34,719 in 1970, and the current population is estimated at 25,184 (2018).
