First National Bank, Le Mars, IA (Chartered 1882 - Liquidated 1934)

Le Mars is located in Plymouth County in northwest Iowa.

Le Mars was platted in 1869, but no lots were sold until the Iowa Falls and Sioux City Railroad, later part of the Illinois Central Railroad, arrived in 1870.

Le Mars is the home of Wells Enterprises, Inc., world's largest producer of ice cream novelties in one location and is the "Ice Cream Capital of the World".

During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Le Mars was 4,036 in 1890, staying fairly constant with 4,157 in 1910, and rising slightly to 4,788 in 1930. It's highest and current population is 9,996 (2018).
