First National Bank, Corning, IA (Chartered 1883 - Receivership 1914)

Corning is located in Adams County in southwest Iowa.

Corning was incorporated December 13, 1871.

Corning is perhaps best known as the birthplace of Johnny Carson. Daniel Webster Turner, who was governor of Iowa from 1931 to 1933, was born in Corning on March 17, 1877.

During the National Bank Note Era, the population of Corning was 1,526 in 1880, staying fairly constant with 1,702 in 1910, rising slightly to 2,026 in 1930. It's highest population was 2,162 in 1940, and the current population is estimated at 1,486 (2016).
